The Bee

The Bee is the symbol of ‘simply being’

Content to spend its life

Absorbed in its chosen task

Undisturbed by others

We too ask our fellow man

To allow us to just ‘be’.

To make a bee line...

When a forager bee finds a good source of nectar, pollen or other resource, it returns to the hive and communicates its location to the other bees in the hive using a display, one of which is called the ‘Waggle Dance’.

Yes, truly, the 'Waggle Dance' exists and is used to indicate something beneficial that's not local to the hive. Other "dances" are used if the source is within 10m, that would be a "round dance", a "transitional dance" would be, say, 20-30m away.

It climbs up the wall of the hive and then performs the "dance", a very sophisticated means of communication for a creature with such a small brain. It can have many different components, depending on how far away the nectar, water or pollen source. Each of the dances have variations to indicate the different bits of information it wants to convey to the other bees, one of which is a waggle!

Using this information the other bees in the hive will make a Bee-Line for the nectar or pollen.
